What is Universal Account Number (UAN)?

The Universal Account Number, also known as UAN, is provided to every employee by the EPFO organization. UAN is a unique 12-digit number allocated to the employee. The UAN number can be generated only once in the lifetime of an employee, and no changes can be made to it afterward. With the help of this UAN, employees can carry out all tasks related to the Employee Provident Fund (EPF).

How to find out your UAN number?

Employees who want to obtain their UAN number can do so by following the steps mentioned below:

• First, visit the official website of EPFO.
• Here, on the main page, click on “Our Services.”
• Now, click on the “For Employees” option.

• Thereafter, click on “Member UAN/Online Service (OCS/OTCP).”
• Now, a new page will open on your screen. On this page, you will see the option “Know Your UAN.” Click on this option.

• Now, you will need to enter any of their identification numbers, and thereafter, enter the CAPTCHA code.

• Now, click on “Request OTP”.

• Now, an OTP (One-Time Password) will be sent to the number you entered. Enter the OTP in the OTP area and then re-enter the CAPTCHA code.
• Next, click on “Validate OTP.”

• Now, a new page will open on your screen, and here select the document provided in their EPF account (Aadhaar card, PAN card, Member ID).
• Here, fill in your name, date of birth, and other requested information according to the chosen document.
• After entering all the information, enter the CAPTCHA code and click on “Show My UAN.”
• Now, your UAN number will be provided to you on your screen.

How to activate your UAN Number?

Any person who wants to activate their UAN number can easily obtain it by following the steps below:

• To activate your UAN number, first go to the official website of EPFO.
• Here on the main page, click on “Our Services”.
• Thereafter, click on “Member UAN/Online Service (OCS/OTCP).”
• Thereafter, you need to click on “Activate UAN”.

• Now, a new page will open on your screen. Here, select UAN and enter your UAN number.
• After entering the UAN number, you need to provide your Aadhaar card number, name, date of birth, and the mobile number linked to the Aadhaar card. Finally, enter the CAPTCHA code.
• Now, click on “Get Authorization Pin” while giving your consent.
  

• Now, a new page will open on your screen, displaying all the information you have entered. Review all the information you provided and give your consent.
• Thereafter, enter the OTP received on your mobile number linked to your Aadhaar card and click on “Validate OTP and Activate UAN.”

• Now your UAN number is activated, and your default password will be sent to your registered mobile number.
• Now you can log in using your UAN number and the default password received.

How to do UAN Login?

Candidates who have received their UAN number and password and want to log in using UAN Login can follow these steps:

• First, click on “UAN Login.”
• Then, a page will open on the screen where the person needs to enter their UAN number and password and input the CAPTCHA code.
• Now, click on “Sign In.”
• Your UAN number will be logged in, and a new page will open on your screen, displaying the complete employee information, including name, UAN number, email, Aadhaar card, and other details.

How to reset the UAN password?

Candidates who have forgotten their UAN password or are unable to remember it for any reason can create a new password by following these steps:

• For this, a person first visit to the UAN Login page.
• Then, click on “Forgot Password,” as indicated below.
• Now, enter your UAN number and the CAPTCHA code, and click on “Submit.”

• A new page will open on the screen, where the candidate needs to enter their name, date of birth, and select their gender. Afterward, click on “Verify.”

• Now, you should proceed to the next page and enter your Aadhaar card number.
• Enter the CAPTCHA code and click on “Verify.”
• You need to enter your mobile number linked to your Aadhaar card and click on “Get OTP.”
• Next, a new page will open on your screen where you have to enter the received OTP and then the CAPTCHA code. Then, click on “Verify.”
• Now, the next page will open, and here the person has to enter their new password, re-enter the password in the box below, and click on “Submit.”

• Now your UAN password has been successfully reset, and with the new password, you can log in to your UAN account.
